Dr. rer. nat. Carsten Spisla
I am a marine biologist with a Ph.D. (Dr. rer. nat), a certified scientific diver since 2014, and a dive operations leader for research diving missions for over two years. My passion for the ocean and its mysteries runs through every aspect of my professional and personal life – from conducting scientific underwater work to documenting marine habitats and cultural heritage sites.

With a B.Sc. in Biology and an M.Sc. in Marine Biology, I completed my doctoral research at Kiel University in cooperation with the GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research. My academic background has given me a solid foundation in marine ecology, biodiversity, and the complex interactions within marine ecosystems.

As a research diver, I have conducted numerous dives in both cold and warm waters – from Arctic fjords to tropical coral reefs. I’ve further expanded my skills through advanced technical diving training with GUE (Global Underwater Explorers), allowing me to safely carry out complex and deep-diving operations.

Beyond science, I have over a decade of experience in underwater photography and filmmaking, combining scientific accuracy with visual storytelling. I also have a strong personal interest in maritime archaeology and the documentation of submerged cultural landscapes.

Whether you're looking for scientific support, underwater documentation, consulting, or expert dive operations – I bring a unique combination of academic expertise, hands-on field experience, and deep passion for the ocean.
